31 Day Challenge: Day 7

Welcome back!

Today's prompt: black & white!

I went with a mix and match look for today. I had several polishes and such that I hadn't used that I wanted to try.

On my thumb, I used Salon Perfect Sugar Cube, and Sally Hansen Big Smoky Top Coat. I had never tried this top coat before. I liked it! It's definitely going to be best on top of white polish, but I'm also interested in applying it on top of a fire pattern, or something like that.

I used the same white base on my index and middle finger as on my thumb. On my ring and pinky fingers, I used Wet n Wild Wild Shine Black Creme. I had never tried this black before. It applied smoothly, and I got it opaque in just two coats! On top of my index finger, I used China Glaze Whirled Away. On my middle finger, I used the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Striper in Black, and the same one in White on my ring finger. Finally, on my pinky, I used the new Salon Perfect top coat in Spot On.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this look, and like the nail polishes that I chose! I would definitely recommend them, and all but the China Glaze are drugstore brands, so they are very affordable!

31 Day Challenge: Day 6

Welcome!

Today's theme: Violet Nails!

I'm not too sure if this counts as "violet," but I just kind of changed it to purple. I used a nail polish from Francesca's for this. The name of the polish is Teeny Bikini.

I liked this polish. It took me three coats for full opacity. I thought it applied pretty smoothly, and had a decent formula. It was definitely not crazy opaque, but what I would consider to be pretty typical. At first it was streaky and not smooth, but each coat made it better. It wasn't too thin, but it wasn't thick either.

Overall, I would definitely give these polishes a try if you see them at the store! I don't remember exactly how much they are, but I believe it was around $4.00 or $5.00.

31 Day Challenge: Day 5

Welcome back!

Today's theme: Blue Nails!

For this, I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nail Xtreme Wear in Pacific Blue.

Surprisingly, I had never tried this polish before! I had always heard amazing things about this one. Now, this one is the original formula, so it will be hard to find. I was trying to decide what polish I wanted to try for this day, but I picked this one because I wanted something easy, and I'd heard that this one was really good.

I only needed two coats of this polish! It was so smooth, and creamy. It has an amazing formula. I honestly wanted to keep painting with this color. On top of all of that, it a beautiful color. It was one of the best polishes that I have ever used.

If you can find this polish anywhere, the original formula, buy it! You will not regret it!

31 Day Challenge: Day 4

Welcome back! Today's theme: Green nails!

For this theme, I used Milani Showy Sea-Green. This is one of their original polishes, not their new Color Statement ones.

I have never used one of their polishes before, other than glitters. I was pretty happy with this polish. I used two coats. It was mostly opaque, but I felt like there were still spots that were not as thick, and were slightly see-through. It was a cream formula, and the brush was nice. It was average length, but the brush itself was nothing too unique.

Overall, I did like this polish, and would like to try some of the others, too.

31 Day Challenge: Day 3

Welcome back!

Today's theme was "Yellow Nails." I used Color Club Almost Famous.

I have only used one other Color Club polish before, so this was a fairly new brand to me. I like the color a lot. It picks up much brighter on camera. In real life, it is more of a "school bus yellow:" darker, not quite as neon or vibrant.

The formula was a cream formula, but it was a little thick. It was not perfect, it had some streaks and unevenness. I did like that it was very opaque, however, and the only reason I added a third coat was because of the streakiness. At that point, most of the nails were already covered completely.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to top coat it, so I didn't get to see if that helped even it out or not. It seems like most yellow polishes are hard to do, so I wouldn't say this is much worse than what you'll find with many yellow polishes.

31 Day Challenge: Day 2

Welcome back! Today's theme: Orange!

The polish that I used for this is Studio M Orange Hot. I have never used this brand before. I purchased this at Meijer. I couldn't find anywhere online to link it for purchase, unfortunately.

This color took me three coats to get it opaque, but I could still see the lines under my nails. I know that it is a neon, and that many people think that means that I need a white base, but I don't think that I should need one for it to look good. I thought the formula was good, and was a typical neon polish. It tried to a semi-matte finish the way most do, but I top coated it to make it shiny.

One thing that I didn't like about this polish was the brush. The brush itself was fine, but it was on a long handle. If you have ever used a Pop Beauty polish, it reminded me of that. I don't care for those, because I feel like I have less control over the polish, such as how and where it applies.

One amazing thing about this was the color though. It was unbelievably bright, and that is without a white base! It was very bright after the first coat, but just got brighter with each coat after that!

31 Day Challenge: Day 1

Hello! I'm back with another year of the nail challenge. I took this on last year, and unfortunately dropped off before the end. I'm hoping to complete it this year. I just so happen to do it the same month as Chalkboard Nails. You can find her website here. I love her!

Today was Red. I used OPI Coca-Cola Red. This was released earlier this summer as part of the Coca-Cola collection. I used 3 coats of the polish. It was a cream formula, with no shimmer or sheen. It applied smoothly, and was very opaque.

I really liked this polish! It was a very iconic and classic red color. If you can find this polish, I would recommend this to anyone who still needs a classic red.
