Autumnized Galaxies

Welcome back!

I did these nails just like all my other galaxies, because it's been almost a whole year worth of galaxy nails! These were really similar to my Thanksgiving galaxy nails, but I added some green, and used different glitter!

Halloween 2015: Galaxies

Welcome back!

I know this is super late, but I'm finally getting around to posting about my last Halloween nails that I did for actual Halloween! I decided to do some galaxies again, because clearly I love them. These were so fun to do, and I love the way they turned out!

Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
White: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri OMGhost
Orange: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Pumpkin Queen
Tiny Glitter: Sally Hansen Insta-Ombre Grey-diant
Small Glitter: Salon Perfect Trick-or-Treat
Large Glitter: Salon Perfect Spider Legs

These were simple to do, and not even too time consuming this time! I started with the black base, and then sponged on white, then orange in some diagonal and different shapes. I was sure to leave some white showing this time, because I only had orange otherwise! Then, I went in with the tiny glitter, and covered the nail with that. Next, I used the small glitter and was sure to not get any large glitters, because the polish is actually a mix, which includes some large circles. I took this and applied it lightly to the nails.

Then, I picked out some orange glitters out of the large glitter and placed them in certain spots to be the big stars. My final step was to hand paint some tiny pumpkins in areas to fill the space even better.

Summerized Galaxy Nails

Welcome back!

Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
White: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri OMGhost
Red: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Rapid Red
Orange: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Pumpkin Queen
Yellow: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Sizzlin' Saffron
Small Glitter: Pure Ice Studette
Large Glitter: Essie Rock At The Top
White Striper: Salon Perfect Nail Art Striper White Out

I finally did my summer version of galaxy nails the other day! I figured since it's the first day of fall, I should finally post them so I have no outstanding posts going in to fall. I love the way these came out. They are so much fun, and I love the colors together. It even looks pretty galaxy like to me, and not too whimsical! I hope you guys like them!

31 Day Challenge: Day 19

Welcome back!

Prompt: Galaxies

Gray: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Show Steel-er
Green: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Mint Sorbet
Blue: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Breezy Blue
Purple: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Lacey Lilac
Glitter: China Glaze Fairy Dust
White: Salon Perfect Nail Art Striper White Out

Obviously, I do galaxies quite a bit. I just love them! There is so much you can do with them, and I think they are fun, but can be subtle, too. They don't have to be screaming, or crazy or anything like that. They are easy, too. They are so good for beginners, because they don't have to be perfect, and there's no difficult details to them!

This time, I decided I wanted to do something that was sort of a pastel galaxy, instead of a typical and common one. I was inspired mostly by The Nail Trail. Her instagram can be found here. I am so in love with these! They turned out so cute, and they are more subtle, since they used a gray background and pastel colors.

Check back tomorrow for more nail art! <3

Spring Galaxy Nails

Welcome back!

Today I wanted to share my most recent galaxy nails that I did! These were some spring ones, so I stuck with flowers and pastels. I know spring is almost over, especially since most people are out of school now, but we've still had a lot of typical spring weather lately, so I didn't think they were too late yet!

Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
Pink: Salon Perfect Put A Ring On It
Purple: Salon Perfect Lilacking Control
Blue: Salon Perfect Cold As Ice
Green: Salon Perfect Mint Julep
Yellow: Salon Perfect Mellow Yellow
Glitter: China Glaze Fairy Dust
Silver Flowers: Nicole by OPI Party Bus
Blue Flowers: Nails Inc. Floral Richmond Gardens
White: Nicole by OPI Yoga-Then-Yogurt

So many colors! I did these like all galaxies, starting with a black base, then sponging on the pink, purple, blue, green and yellow polishes. I painted the glitter on, and then fished the silver and blue flower glitters out of the correct polishes. The blue flowers gave it a different look, and took away from the galaxy look a little bit, but I still liked it.

To get the white flowers and rose, I used some new stamping plates I just got! I used Winstonia plates 104 for the rose and 110 for the flower.

Easter: Galaxies

Welcome back!

Today I created some galaxy nails (again), but this time they were Easter themed!

Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
White: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri OMGhost
Pink: Maybelline The Color Show Bleached Neons Pink Punch
Purple: Maybelline The Color Show Bleached Neons Ultra Violet
Blue: Maybelline The Color Show Bleached Neons Day Glow Teal
Green: Maybelline The Color Show Bleached Neons Lime Accent
Peach: Maybelline The Color Show Bleached Neons Bleached in Peach
Fine Glitter: Claire's White Hot
Chunky Glitter: Zoya Monet
White Striper: Salon Perfect Nail Art Striper White Out

I did these nails just like I've done any other galaxies. For these, I'll write it out step by step, because I haven't done that before!

1. Start by painting nails with a black polish for a base.
2. Using a piece of a makeup sponge and tweezers, I spotted on white polish in the shape that I want the galaxy to be on each nail.
3. Using the pink, purple, blue, green, and peach polish, I sponged them on the same way as the white. I did any touch ups as I went, too.
4. Next, I painted on the fine glitter to look like small stars in the distant.
5. I placed some of the chunky glitter on a palette and picked out a few large glitters and placed them on some of the black spaces on my nails.
6. Using the white striper, I painted a couple of eggs on my nails in place of heat would normally larger stars drawn on in a normal galaxy.

St. Patrick's Day: Galaxy Nails

Welcome back!

After doing my Valentine's Day galaxy nails, I was inspired to do more galaxy nails that were themed for different holidays, seasons and events. I've done Valentine Galaxies and Winterized Galaxies. Today, I have some St. Patrick's Day Galaxies for you!

Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
White: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri OMGhost
Dark Green: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri I-Rush Luck
Green: China Glaze I'm With the Lifeguard
Light Green: Maybelline The Color Show Bleached Neons Lime Accent
Fine Gold Glitter: Avon Snowman (from years ago)
Chunky Gold Glitter: Pure Ice Bling on the Holidays

I did these just like any other galaxies. I started by painting the nails black, then added a quick dry top coat. Once it was dry, I sponged on the white, then all three greens, starting with the darkest, and going lighter. Next I put on the fine glitter, and then used the chunky glitter and picked out the largest pieces to make "stars." Finally, I used white polish to create a few shamrock "stars" on the nails.

Winterized Galaxy Nails

Welcome back!

It's snowing today! It's really funny that it is, too, since I did these nails. I always do my nails at night before I go to bed, because it is a good time, and I don't have to worry about smudging or chipping them right away. I planned on doing these last night before I knew it was even going to snow!

I loved my Valentine galaxy nails so much, I decided to do more with another spin on it: snow/winter! It was easy to do, really. All I had to do was use blues for the sponging portion, and anything that looked like snow/snowflakes for the "stars!"

Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
White: Nicole by OPI Yoga-Then-Yogurt
Dark Blue: OPI Feeling Treemedous
Blue: China Glaze Splish Splash
Light Blue: Essie Bikini So Teeny
Fine Glitter: Maybelline The Veils Crystal Disguise
White Glitter: China Glaze Chillin' With My Snow-Mies
Striper: Salon Perfect Nail Art Striper White Out

I did these just like any other galaxy nails. I started by painting my nail all black, and once it was dry, I sponged on some white with a piece of a latex-free cosmetic wedge. Along one edge of the white, I sponged on the dark blue. I really liked the way this made it fade a little differently. Next, on top of the white, I sponged on the blue and light blue.

I painted on the glitter next to make it look like a million little stars. I then hand placed the white glitter so it looked like stars, just like is often done with galaxy nails, but this glitter was the perfect choice. It still kind of looks like stars, or typical galaxy nails, but also kind of like snowflakes!  The last step was to paint a few snowflakes, instead of the typical stars. To make sure they were obviously snowflakes, and not just looking like stars, I added dots to the ends of them!

The Nail Art Guild: February 14

Welcome back!

Time for another bi-weekly Nail Art Guild prompt today! The prompt was "out of this world."

I was trying to think of a good, creative idea, but all I could think of was galaxy nails. I'd set my heart on that, but decided I would try different colors and maybe different effects than the last time or two I'd done them. Then it hit me: Valentine galaxies. It was simple, really. All I had to do was trade out all of the usual designs and colors for pinks and hearts! You can find my classic galaxy nails here.

Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
White: Nicole by OPI Yoga Then Yogurt
Pink: L'Oreal Acid Watermelon
Purple: Maybelline The Color Show Bleached Neons Ultra Violet
Fine Glitter: Finger Paints He-Art Auction
Chunky Glitter: Essie Pinking About You

I did this just like any other galaxy nails, starting by painting my nails black, then topping with a quick dry top coat. After that, I took pieces of sponge and sponged on white, then pink, and finally a little bit of purple. The next common step would be to take fine glitter and paint it to look like little stars, so I did this, just with fine pink glitter! I also used chunky glitter to look like big stars, and of course it was somewhat pink. The final step would be to draw larger stars with white polish, but I drew hearts!

I'm so happy with the outcome of these nails! When I thought of it, I immediately tried it out on a nail wheel, and could not wait to do it again on my actual nails!

31 Day Challenge: Day 19

Welcome back!

Today's theme: galaxy!

These were pretty much done just like any other galaxy nails. I laid down a base of OPI Black Onyx. With a cosmetic sponge, I applied Salon Perfect Sugar Cube, China Glaze Blue Iguana, and China Glaze Senorita Bonita. On top, I applied China Glaze Fairy Dust, and then placed a few glitters on from Wet n Wild Mega Rocks Gettin' Amped.

This was simple, went quick, and turned out well. There's no way to mess this up!

31 Day Nail Challenge: Day 19

Day Nineteen: Galaxy

China Glaze in Seniorita Bonita
China Glaze in Blue Iguana
Covergirl Outlast in Black Diamond
Kiss Nail Art in Silver Glitter

Yay for another tutorial!!! :) Boo for being late still... :(

I liked them, until I did the silver. Then they were just okay. Next time, I'm doing something different for the "star" part. Like a sequin.

  1. Apply a solid, black nail polish. I used Covergirl Outlast's Black Diamond. Make sure there are no streaky spots.
  2. Pick a blue, preferably a thinner, shimmery blue, and drop a couple drops on another surface. With the cut off corner of a makeup sponge, dip it in the blue, then dab on the nail in various places. I used China Glaze's Blue Iguana.
  3. Repeat step 2 with a purple polish. I used China Glaze's Seniorita Bonita.
  4. With a densely glittered polish, apply a coupe dots to the nail. With a paint brush, diffuse the dots out a little, and make them less dense.
And that's all!
