Halloween 2015: Galaxies

Welcome back!

I know this is super late, but I'm finally getting around to posting about my last Halloween nails that I did for actual Halloween! I decided to do some galaxies again, because clearly I love them. These were so fun to do, and I love the way they turned out!

Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
White: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri OMGhost
Orange: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Pumpkin Queen
Tiny Glitter: Sally Hansen Insta-Ombre Grey-diant
Small Glitter: Salon Perfect Trick-or-Treat
Large Glitter: Salon Perfect Spider Legs

These were simple to do, and not even too time consuming this time! I started with the black base, and then sponged on white, then orange in some diagonal and different shapes. I was sure to leave some white showing this time, because I only had orange otherwise! Then, I went in with the tiny glitter, and covered the nail with that. Next, I used the small glitter and was sure to not get any large glitters, because the polish is actually a mix, which includes some large circles. I took this and applied it lightly to the nails.

Then, I picked out some orange glitters out of the large glitter and placed them in certain spots to be the big stars. My final step was to hand paint some tiny pumpkins in areas to fill the space even better.

Halloween 2015: Chevron & Candy

Welcome back!

Next up for Halloween nails…chevron! I love chevron, and I love candy. So what could be better than mixing them?!

Black: China Glaze Liquid Leather
White: China Glaze White on White
Orange: China Glaze Home Sweet House Music
Purple: China Glaze Violet Vibes
Green: China Glaze Treble Maker

For the chevron nails, I used some chevron nail vinyls, and started with a white base. Then I painted the desired color on top, and finished it up by using a small detail brush and adding the black lines in for accent. And then, for the candy nail, I just used dotting tools and the same small detail brush.

Happy Halloween! <3

Halloween 2015: Fuzzy Monsters

Welcome back!

Today I want to share my last couple of Halloween designs! First up, these cute, fuzzy monsters, inspired by Chalkboard Nails and the Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat. The post that inspired them can be found here.

I loved these cute monsters that she created, and I recreated them back before I was blogging, and I thought they were so cute! I knew I had to do it again when I got this special Halloween Fuzzy Coat last year.

Purple: Wet 'n Wild Megalast Thrift Shopaholic
Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
White: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri OMGhost
Orange: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Pumpkin Queen
Fuzzy Coat: Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Witch-ful Thinking

I love the way these turned out! I used the polish brush to create the body for the monsters, and to add the fuzzy coat. I used a small detail brush from Winstonia and dotting tools for the remainder of the details.

Happy Halloween! <3

Halloween 2015: French Tips

Welcome back!

Last week I went out of state to a national conference related to my work. It was a very professional event, so I needed something that was professional. I thought that wearing a french manicure would be perfect! I wanted it to still be a little festive, though, so I had one accent nail which was a black and white glitter.

For the first time, I used some long-lasting polishes, in this case OPI Infinite Shine. I was really happy with the results this time! I was not exceptionally rough with them, but I didn't always think about being careful with them. They were barely looking different at the end of the week! The nails of french tips were nearly perfect still, other than maybe one nail that chipped in the tiniest. The nails with glitter chipped more, but the glitter was not a long-lasting polish, I just topped it with that top coat.

Nude: OPI Infinite Shine The Beige of Reason
White: OPI Infinite Shine Non-Stop White
Glitter: Sinful Colors Splatter Spell

I'm really happy with these nails, and with the color of the nude for the french nails!

Halloween 2015: Stripes and Glitter

Welcome back!

I do dotticures so often, I thought I would mix it up this time and try some stripes instead! I love the way these turned out, and I love the accent nail with black glitter.

The stripes were done using some straight vinyls in different sizes. I painted the base white and then used a brush to fill in some of the stripes. Once they were done, I used the silver and added a couple accent stripes to make it stand out. To put the glitter on, I used a latex free makeup sponge to apply it.

White: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri OMGhost
Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
Orange: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Pumpkin Queen
Silver: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Celeb City
Glitter: Sally Hansen Luxe Lace Ruffle

Halloween 2015: Glitter Pumpkins

Welcome back!

I'm so behind on posting my Halloween manicures! I've been really busy this month. I got the flu a couple weeks ago. And, since I moved recently, my parents came and visited this month for a long weekend. I also went out of state for a large national conference for almost this whole week! It's been crazy, basically. But I still have been painting my nails, so here is the first one to make up!

I wanted to do some pumpkin nails, with different sizes. The accent nail was a glitter jack-o-lantern, and I used the glitters to do a glitter placement, making a dotticure nail with tiny pumpkins, and then a mid-sized pumpkin on my index finger!

Black: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright
Green: China Glaze Treble Maker
Orange Glitter: (no name polish from Meijer last year in a pumpkin bottle)

I really love the way these turned out! I wore them for a while because they were so cute and fun! Does anyone else like the girly Halloween nails? I'm not much for gore or creepy things, but these are fun and festive still, yet cute and girly!

Halloween 2015: Haunted House Accent

Welcome back!

Today I did my first very Halloween-y manicure! I really wanted to do a plastic bag nail, so I used that and a simple dotticure so I could feature my haunted house on my index finger.

White: China Glaze White On White
Black: China Glaze Liquid Leather
Orange: China Glaze Home Sweet House Music
Gold: Pure Ice Studette

This was really simple to do. I used a medium-small sized dotting tool for the middle finger dotticure, and a nail art brush from Winstonia to paint the haunted house on my index finger. The ring finger and thumb were the plastic bag method!

Black and Gold Line Work

Welcome back!

I'm finally back with more nail art! I painted these a couple of days ago, I just never got the chance to post them. I've seen this design all around before, but I don't know who the original creator is. This was really simple to do!

Black: OPI Black Onyx
Gold: OPI Liquid Sand Honey Ryder
White Striper: Salon Perfect Nail Art White Out
Gold Striper: Salon Perfect Nail Art Gold Sparkle

For this design, I started with the black base, and then freehanded the lines on there with a white striper.  Once that was dry, I went over the lines with the gold striper. I went over some areas twice just to make sure the gold was opaque enough.

Since the nails are mostly black, these are a little Halloween-y! I like how they are classy, too, though!

Halloween Nails 2014: Part 2

Welcome back!

Here are the rest of my Halloween manicures from this year!

These were a twist on the classic and simple french manicure. To create the french manicure, I used the Sally Hansen Diamond Strength French Manicure Pen Kit in Barely There. After that was done, I used the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Stripers in Orange and Black.

This is a sort of mix 'n match manicure. For the orange, I used China Glaze Stoked to be Soaked from their Off Shore Collection from this summer. The white was Salon Perfect Sugar Cube, and I used the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Striper in Black for the stripes.

Next up is my spooky Haunted House mani. The base purple is Wet 'n Wild Megalast Trippin' On The Boardwalk. The details were done with Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Stripers in Black and Yellow.

This mani was inspired by a witch. The base is OPI Do You Have This Color in Stock-holm? from the Nordic collection. For the spider webs, I used Kiss Nail Art Stripers in White and Silver Glitter. I put the white down first, and then topped it all with the glitter to make it a little more fun and girly. The hat and cauldron, including the outlines of them, were done with the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pens in White, Green, and Black.

My final Halloween manicure was a trick-or-treat candy manicure! The base color is OPI Skating on Thin Ice-land. The candy corn nail was done using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri OMGhost, Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Sun Kissed and Mellow Yellow. I also used OMGhost for the white on my other nails. The words and details on the candy were done using the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pens in Orange, Yellow, Blue and Pink.

I'm really happy with my Halloween manicures this year, and I'm happy I got so many done! I had even more ideas, but I guess I'll just have to wait until next year for them!

Halloween Nails 2014: Part 1

Welcome back!

Today, I figured I'd post a roundup of the Halloween manicures that I did this year! I know it's a little late, but better late than never, right?

The first one is extremely simple. I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri OMGhost for the white, Color Foil in Liquid Gold and the glitter is Sinful Colors Splatter Spell. On the last picture, I removed the gold accent nail and replaced it with just the white, just to give another option to make it more simple. I almost liked that one better.

The next manicure was very similar to the first, but in black. I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Fright, Color Foil Sterling Silver and the orange is a no name brand that I found at Meijer. It came in a little pumpkin bottle. :) Again, on the last picture I replaced the silver with just black for simplicity.

This manicure is very simple. It only used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Pumpkin Queen and Maybelline The Color Show Jewels Gleaming Graphite. I wish the graphite color looked more black, because that's what I was going for, but it was more of a steel gray. Some lighting made it look blue, even. The last picture was in outdoor lighting.

That's all for this half! Part 2 will be up shortly!

31 Day Challenge: Day 29

Welcome back!

Today's theme: inspired by the supernatural!

I was honestly dreading this day. I didn't complete the challenge last year, and this day was part of the reason why. I had no idea what to do. I hate spooky/creepy things, so this day is horrible for me. I realized after doing it and exploring other peoples more, that there are some good ideas out there. Something to keep in mind for next year! :)

I did small, cute ghosts, which is also perfect for Halloween which is coming up! For this nail art, it was super simple. I used Hot Designs, which are the brush and pen combo! I've seen these in my local Walmart, CVS, and Target. I think you can also get them online.

It was short and sweet for this one! Simple is good sometimes, though!
